The MAN (dela) who brought us Truth and Reconciliation

The MAN (dela) who brought us Truth and Reconciliation
I am reading Mandela's autobiography now, he is quite a powerful courageous, successful and wise man!

Carrie Nelson: I so agree. And also Hillary is coming in with too much baggage and I hope the country does not vote for her just because she is a woman. I'm feeling the Bern.

Economist and long time friend of HilIary CIinton, Robert Reich, recently said Bernie Sanders is actually the candidate for change and the best choice for the a...verage American.
"I’ve known Hillary Clinton since she was 19 years old, and have nothing but respect for her... But Bernie Sanders is the most qualified candidate to create the political system we should have, because he’s leading a political movement for change."

Help curb violence, give black men a job

The Bottom Line!
There aren't many things we can all agree with when it comes to curbing violence in Chicago. But it would be difficult for anyone to make a sensible argument against this: If young black men went to work every day, they wouldn't be out in the streets killing…

ON PRIVILEGE

Privilege is a hard to grasp concept, especially if you have it!
"I'm not trying to say I'm against that idea that if we work hard, we succeed," he said. "I would like to think that is true, for the most part, but I just think people often forget or don't realise that our starting points, or our paths to success, aren't all even. Some people have to overcome more obstacles in the path to succeeding than others."

The Black Prayer

thanks Pendah for this uplifting poem!
Larry Besant with Jackie Edwards and 40 others.
The Black Prayer
This is deep, so take your time.
Why Did You Make Me Black Lord...
Lord .. Why did you make me black?
Why did you make someone
the world would hold back?...
Black is the color of dirty clothes,
of grimy hands and feet......
Black is the color of darkness,
of tired beaten streets...

Why did you give me thick lips,
a broad nose and kinky hair?
Why did you create someone
who receives the hated stare?
Black is the color of the bruised eye
when someone gets hurt...
Black is the color of darkness,
black is the color of dirt.
Why is my bone structure so thick,
my hips and cheeks so high?
Why are my eyes brown,
and not the color of the sky?
Why do people think I'm useless?
How come I feel so used?
Why do people see my skin
and think I should be abused?
Lord, I just don't understand...
What is it about my skin?
Why is it some people want to hate me
and not know the person within?
Black is what people are "Labeled"
when others want to keep them away...
Black is the color of shadows cast...
Black is the end of the day.
Lord you know my own people mistreat me,
and you know this just ain't right...
They don't like my hair, they don't like my
skin, as they say I'm too dark or too light!
Lord, don't you think
it's time to make a change?
Why don't you redo creation
and make everyone the same?
God's Reply:
Why did I make you black? Why did I make you black?
I made you in the color of coal
from which beautiful diamonds are formed...
I made you in the color of oil,
the black gold which keeps people warm.
Your color is the same as the rich dark soil
that grows the food you need...
Your color is the same as the black stallion and
panther, Oh what majestic creatures indeed!
All colors of the heavenly rainbow
can be found throughout every nation...
When all these colors are blended,
you become my greatest creation!
Your hair is the texture of lamb's wool,
such a beautiful creature is he...
I am the shepherd who watches them,
I will ALWAYS watch over thee!
You are the color of the midnight sky,
I put star glitter in your eyes...
There's a beautiful smile hidden behind your pain...
That's why your cheeks are so high!
You are the color of dark clouds
from the hurricanes I create in September...
I made your lips so full and thick,
so when you kiss...they will remember!
Your stature is strong,
your bone structure thick to withstand the
burden of time...
The reflection you see in the mirror,
that image that looks back, that is MINE!
So get off your knees,
look in the mirror and tell me what you see?
I didn't make you in the image of darkness...
I made you in the image of ME!

Flint - Environmental racism

For civil rights advocates, the health crisis in Flint smacks of what has become known as environmental racism. Coined in the 1980s, the term refers to the disp...roportionate exposure of blacks to polluted air, water and soil. It is considered the result of poverty and segregation that has relegated many blacks and other racial minorities to some of the most industrialized or dilapidated environments.
Civil rights advocates say that the city’s health crisis smacks of the kind of discrimination that causes the disproportionate exposure of blacks to polluted air,…

Martin would agree with Bernie

As we celebrate his birthday, it is easy to forget that Rev. Martin Luther King was a democratic socialist. In 1964, accepting the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, he observed…

In 1966 King confided to his staff:
"You can't talk about solving the economic problem of the Negro without talking about billions of dollars. You can't talk about ending the slums without first saying profit must be taken out of slums. You're really t
ampering and getting on dangerous ground because you are messing with folk then. You are messing with captains of industry. Now this means that we are treading in difficult water, because it really means that we are saying that something is wrong with capitalism. There must be a better distribution of wealth, and maybe America must move toward a democratic socialism."

Today, there were all kinds of Democrat heros around with debate in town First, after Unity, went to Morris St. Baptist Church Ecumenical honoring Dr, Martin L...uther King, Jr. where they were giving a Harvey Gantt award to Eric Holder. Speakers were Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Clyburn. Our great mayor Tecklinberg led it off playing piano and singing Martin, John and Bobby. He has a better voice than this singer on youtube. Then we went to Bernie Rally, and were invited to the Great American Music Hall to listen to local music groups like Susto and others before all watching the Debate on big screen Television! All humans are capable of this. How many of us think the way this man does? The Dalai Lama said: "If you want to make others happy, practice compassion. If you ...want to be happy, practice compassion."
Nancy Lindquist O'Neal wrote: This is about 15 miles from my home, and he is very quiet and humble about his calling. Pray for him, if you will, that his crops this year are able to be harvested after the heavy rains in the past two weeks. Much of the harvest is rotting in the fields in North and South Carolina.
